Genealogy of The Anthony Family, from 1495 to 1904; Traced from William Anthony, Cologne, German, to London, England, John Anthony, a Descendant, from England to America. 1904 Compiled and Published by Charles L. Anthony, Sterling, ILL. Lists my line down to my grandfather.

The History of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations: Biographical, by the American Historical Society, Inc., 1920.  For some unknown reason there are two copies of the book with the same title page, but with different contents.  These read like vanity pieces, but the vital statistics seem to be relatively accurate.

Mayflower Increasings, 2nd Edition, by Susan E. Roser, 1995.  This is very well researched and documented.  If she has doubts about information she says so.  I used this and the next to fill out my Warren database.

Mayflower Marriages: From the Files of George Ernest Bowman, at the Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendants, by Susan E. Roser, 1990.  Although this is a larger book, the Mayflower Increasings has more information.

The New England Historic and Genealogical Register of January and April 1870. This article, written by Rev. David Sherman, Wilbraham, Mass.,  was also published in The Narragansett Historical Register.

A New England Heritage: The 500-year Story of my line of the SHERMAN and MAURAN Families, by Frederick Barreda Sherman, 1969, plus a 1979 supplement. This is a vanity publication that tells the story of Philip Shermans ancestors and life in America and his descendants.  Part of this book is narrative speculation, but the he admits when he is guessing and provides all references.  Mauran is his wife's family.

Some of the Descendants of Philip Sherman:  The First Secretary of Rhode Island, 1968, by Roy V. Sherman, Professor Emeritus, University of Akron, Akron, Ohio.  This provided the core of my Sherman database.  This 662 page book has copies of all the will and other documents that he was able to find.  The male lines are predominate with a good index.  Much of the work was actually done by Frank Dempster Sherman.

The New England Shermans, 1974, by Roy V. Sherman.  This volume contains updates information to the Philip Sherman book, including listings supplied by my family for myself, siblings and spouse, etc.  There are still errors and typos.  The book also contains information on the other related Sherman lines.

Notebook begun by Job Sherman (b: January 21, 1766 d: January 24, 1848) and continued by other generations.  This book that I inherited contains the vital records, and some additional notes, of the Sherman, Anthony, Fish, Chase, and other related families. The Anthony and Fish information added substantial to that from other sources.

The Pancoast Family in America by Bennett S. Pancoast. The Gloucester County Historical Society, Volume I & II, 1981.  This work provides detail and stories in addition to the basic facts.  Each family listing is followed by a reference.  This is the primary source of most of the Pancoast information and lists my line to my grandfather..
