Going east along the north shore of the Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County, Long Island, is the town of Stony Brook.

Stony Brook Christian Avenue Hollywood/Holly Tree House, Stony BrookChristian Avenue, east of the shopping area. Mailed in 1913. The houses are still there. Right: "Hollywood Cottage" mailed in 1916 Now known as Holly Tree House for the holly tree reportedly planted about 1860. An original of this Feather Photo is labeled "Blue Bird Tea Rooms. Parker Webb MCT Board & Room"

Corner Christian Avenue and Hollow RoadLeft: Christian Avenue [just east of the Three Village Inn] and Wopowog Road, 1919 - a dirt road. Right: The same interesection - Christian Avenue and the renamed Hollow Road. The house at the intersection, built in 1803, is still there. 

"Old Oak Tree" about 1909 on Lubber Street. The tree, which had a circumference of 26 feet, was cut down by in 1979. There is now a memorial in its place. Click Here for an enlargement of the people. Right: Thomas Anderson Family Groceries, Confectionery &C. It was located at 235 Christian Avenue, at the corner of Sands. It was mailed in 1904.

Stony Brook Methodist Episcopal ChurchStony Brook Community (United Methodist, M.E.) Church prior to 1907. It was built in 1860 and still stands on Christian Avenue. The card on the left is confirmed as being a picture by R. S. Feather of Smithtown.

Well's Dock, Stony Brook "Well's Dock" at the end of Well's Lane off Christian Avenue, mailed in 1914. On the 1873 Beers map it is the Ship Yard at the end of Wells Street with T. S. Wells Residence near the end. Right: Camp Verona.

Pine View House 1912 "Pine View House" published by Israel G. Hawkins and mailed in 1912 by someone staying there. This 1917 map shows the location of Pine View Hotel by the property of Israel Hawkins. At the right is a photo taken by Greene about 1906.
