Left: "North Main avenue, Providence Square, looking East from Auditorium." Dickerson's Store is the opposite side of the Square from the Bristol House. Right: the square probably in the late 1940's. Some of the signs are for Leo's Mens Shop, Belmont Restaurant, GC Murphy's Five and Dime, and cities. For an enlargement of the signs, click here.

Left: "West Market Street from Square" with Scranton replacing Providence. Mailed 1920. The Bristol House and the small building next to it have been replaced. On the left is the Geo. W. Davis Store and a barber pole. On the right is a liquor store in the building with the Uneeda Biscuit sign. Right: many of the buildings are the same in this undated image from a negative.

"Providence Square" mailed in 1914. The grey building on the left is a bank. The green one left of that replaced the Bristol House. Right: a photograph, also published as a postcard, of Old Home Week, August 1913. On the left and right are the same buildings as on the postcard at left.
