Left: Early 1900's "The Great Fireproof Seed House of John Lewis Childs, Floral Park." It was torn down for a shopping center.


Left: Printing House of the Mayflower Publishing Company. Part of the Establishment of John Lewis Childs. Built in 1892, an article in The Mayflower describes the new building as being 125 feet long and 50 feet wide with a 60 horse power boiler and engine dynamo capable of supplying the building with electric power throughout. There were 5 presses.

Childs Residence Floral ParkLeft: "Residence of John Lewis Childs, Floral Park." At right, "Floral Park, Long Island." This is one of many structures on the John Lewis Childs property in Floral Park. In the background is the Seed House. These cards were not mailed, but were printed before 1907 (undivided backs).

Jericho Turnpike Looking East Left: "Looking East on Jericho Turnpike." Some of the signs say Bank, Beauty Parlor, Liquor, and Pork Store. I'm told that the 5&10 was part way down the block on the right. Right: Hotel Richter c1910. The sign by the door says, in part, "Real German Beers."

Left: Masonic Temple, Floral Park

Right: Post Office and Tulip Avenue by the train tracks. The sign on the second story looks like "Heidtmann Bros. Builders."

Floral Park Public School 1930 Sewanhaka High School"Public School, Floral Park, L. I." The end with the tower opened in 1895 and was renamed the John Lewis Childs School in 1921. Sewanhaka High School, right, opened in 1930.
